It’s been a long held ambition of mine to take on the long stretch from Birmingham to London via the historic Grand Union Canal. Having walked Hadrian’s Wall a few years back, I realised I needed to aim for something flatter and it doesn’t come much flatter than a 146 mile canal!
So here I am, fully embracing the planning and training phase of what will be a big challenge for me, both physically and mentally. I’ll be taking on the canal in aid of Diabetes UK – a charity very close to my heart. All money raised will support vital research into the cause of type 1 diabetes – as yet still unknown. Feel free to click on my Just Giving page.
The good news is that I’ve already taken the plunge and these Adidas Terrex bad boys are already purchased, broken in and ready to see me through… I’m now building up my miles and trying desperately to shift a stone in weight before May! I’ll be starting with a ‘slightly larger trouser’ and finishing with 2″ off the waistline – at least that’s the plan!
